Members performed funny and dramatic scenes. Here are the learning points:
1. Increase volume.
2. Pick up cues and lines to improve pace.
3. Turn out. Talk for the audience more so than to the other actor.

Meeting #6 & #7
Last week we practiced cold readings for auditions. In small groups actors read a monologue, "Smelly Pants." At the end everyone read 2-3 paragraphs with expression.
This week actors split into pairs and each group chose a short scene. Groups will memorize and perform scenes next week. Ms. Avery and Mr. Dobell talked about some memorization strategies. By yourself chunk the script; once you have the first part memorized then work on the second and so on. With a partner, one person can read with the person trying to memorize. We are excited to watch the subtle comedy and dramatic twists. Break a leg!

Meeting #2
Today we chose our leadership roles
Madi as Stage Manager
Ashanti as Director
and Caleb as Producer
We repeated the Bubblegum-Balzak-Bazooka game and the Props game with some interesting ideas. Ms. Avery acted like the knights helmet was a sled and Ashanti used the glasses like they were propellers. We introduced the Kitty Wants a Corner game.

Welcome!
Last week Ms. Avery, Mr. Dobell, Mrs. Venekamp, Mrs. Epple, and Mr. McFadden entered the eighth grade classrooms, acting out a skit called "Lights, Camera, Action!" Students were invited to sign up for the ICMS Drama Club starting this week. Sixteen students attended today, and we:
1. Introduced ourselves.
2. Practiced emotional effects with our voices.
3. Described the leadership roles of the club.
4. Coordinated a movement activity in a small group.
5. Used visualization techniques.
Students also shared their goals for joining the drama club. Our next post will include our club and personal goals.
